Secularism in India. With the Forty-second Amendment of the Constitution of India enacted in 1976, the Preamble to the Constitution asserted that India is a secular nation. The Indian Constitution has allowed extensive interference of the state in religious affairs. India does partially separate religion and state.

India is a secular country because in india ,there are many religions living together in it without much conflicts and all are treated equally. Nobody can discriminate anyone on the basis of religion. Hence, India is called a secular country
