- Kudremukh Iron Ore Company Limited was an Indian Govt. enterprise having had its headquarters, administrative and office activities in Bengaluru (Bangalore). It had a palletisation plant in Mangalore (Mangalore) and had an iron ore mine in the district of Chikkamagaluru district, at Kudremukh.
- The Kudremukh iron ore was one of the biggest iron ore mines across the globe; however it was shut down in the year 2006. Captive mining was carried out at Kudremukh at the Western Ghats range.
- The mined ore was then transferred 110 km via slurry pipelines that ran through the districts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi up to the palletisation plant in Panambur, nearby to the location of the 'New Mangalore Port'.
