Jute is extracted from the bark of the white jute plant (Corchorus capsularis) and to a lesser extent from tossa jute (C. olitorius). It is a natural fibre with golden and silky shine and hence called the Golden Fibre.

Jute is obtained from stem of jute plant. Stem of jute plant is cut at flowering stage. All stems are kept in water for rotting. This process is called "Retting of fibres". All the stems are separated from water and after that fibres are removed from jute stem and then fibres are dried and then used for making jute products.
