Clinical thermometers are used to measure the temperature in the body. These thermometers are used in clinics.Laboratory termometers are used to measure temperature of chemical objects.These thermometers are available in science labs.

Following precautions are needed while reading a laboratory thermometer: (i) The thermometer should be kept upright not tilted. (ii) Bulb should be surrounded from all sides by the substance of which the temperature is to be measured. (iii) The bulb should not touch the surface of the container.
