It's main cause is deforestation. As trees helps us to bind the soil and don't allow it to wash away with different agents like wind, water, glaciers and many more.

Land is degraded because in nowadays people use fertilisers in fields in order to achieve more crop but. by that fertilisers insectices and pesticides land git degraded because land cannot hold much chemicals and it also pollutes ground water
