Answer:

Explanation:

Blood vessel leaking can refer to hemorrhage caused by the injury of blood vessels due to trauma or due to infectious diseases. The common causes may be due to inflammation of the tissues, ulceration, polyps, hemorrhoids, aneurysms, tumors and cancers among many others.

Excessive bleeding can be due to hemophiliac conditions or due to ingestion of blood thinning medications prior to blood vessel injury or due as result of other factors such after delivery(post-partum hemorrhage).

Most of this conditions are treated or prevented using various medications like the once that reduce the chances of bleeding occurence such as oxytocin administration to prevent post-partum hemorrhage or traxenemic acid.

However, the body also has its own mechanisms of controlling bleeding by use of the clotting cascade and is as follows:

When a blood vessel is injured and is leaking, protein compounds such as tissue factors cause the chemotaxis  of the clotting factors to the site of injury. The clotting process involves the use of various protein factors that leads to the activation of prothrombin to thrombin which then activates fibrinogen to fibrin. The fibrin strands formed are used in the formation of a fibrin mesh that traps the platelets forming a plug. This plug is held together by the Von-wilbrands factor.

Therefore bleeding or leaking from the blood vessels is stopped or prevented by this platelet plug formed.
