For the cultivation of crops, preparation of soil is very much needed which involves ploughing and levelling.
Ploughing :
Process of loosening and turning soil is called Tilling or ploughing.
Usually ploughing is done by plough which is usually made up of wood or iron.
Significance:
By ploughing, the compost mixes well with the soil and makes soil fertile and airy, increases water retention capacity.
The ploughed fields may have the big pieces of soil called crumbs. These are broken with a plank and the field is leveled for sowing with leveler for irrigation.
Significance :
---> leveling ensures uniform distribution of water in the field.
