Polarization by Scattering. The scattering of light off air molecules produces linearly polarized light in the plane perpendicular to the incident light. The scatterers can be visualized as tiny antennae which radiate perpendicular to their line of oscillation.

Linearly polarised light is obtained by process of scattering of light by the below process.

1.A ray of white light is passed through a medium containing very small nano sized particles.

2.The beam gets scattered.

3. On observing the scattered light in a direction perpendicular to the incidence direction, it is linearly polarised.

4. Linearly polarised light is one in which the vibration of electric field is confined to one plane.
