The loudness of a sound is linked to the size of the vibration which produces it. A big vibration makes a louder sound. Scientists use the word 'amplitude' for the size of waves. Forwaves on water, it is easy to measure the amplitude.

nikkisreya: when amplitude increases sound we hear also increases. As amplitude is the distance moved by the particle during vibration. Amplifier is used in loud speaker to increase the amplitude of sound wave transformed from microphone. As a result the sound experienced by us will be high. In short, amplitude and sound are directly proportional.

Loudness is directly proportional to amplitude. The more the loudness the more the amplitude of sound . That is why we use amplifier to increase the loudness of music.
