How is monoclinic sulphur prepared?

Yellow powdered sulphur was placed into the bottom of a test tube and heated gently in a medium bunsen flame. The powder melted to form a mobile amber liquid which was poured into a funnel of filter paper. This was allow to cool slowly and then opened up to show crystals of monoclinic sulphur.
