In the following ways Non-Cooperation Movement is different from the Civil Disobedience Movement :

Non-Cooperation Movement : Its program was adopted in December, 1920 and it was finally started in January, 1921. There was very meagre women participation in this Movement. It was began with the title 'Non-Cooperation Khilafat Movement'. It was called off on 12,February 1922, when the movement turned violent im Chauri Chaura, Gorakhpur (U.P.). Only little social groups participated like rural people, tribal people, Muslims, plantation workers, etc. It lasted for around 2 years.

• Civil Disobedience Movement : It began on 12th April, 1930. Its beginning was marked by the Salt March which began on 12th March, 1930. There was very large women participation in this movement. It was called off on 5th, March 1931 and its end result was the Gandhi-Irwin pact. Many social groups like big businessmen, industrial workers, peasants, landlords, etc. participated in this movement.
