Meiosis helps in maintaining the number of chromosome in offspring.

  • As during Sexual reproduction two parents are involved to produce offspring ,therefore the process of meiosis is occurring .
  • Meiosis reduce the number of chromosome to halves ,when the gametes are formed .
  • Each gametes will have only one pair of chromosome.
  • the two complimentary haploid gametes will fuse and will form zygote having same number of chromosome i.e, 23 pair of chromosome in offspring.
