How is O² and CO² transported in human being?

O^2 is transported throught the blood. Oxygen dissolves with haemoglobin to form an unstable compound- Oxyhaemoglobin, which dissociates into oxygen and haemoglobin when it reaches a cell or tissue, here the oxygen is used up by the cell or tissue and carbon dioxide is given out as a by-product which again dissolves with haemoglobin to form another unstable compound- Carbomino haemoglobin. Which dissociates to give CO2 and Hb when it reaches the lungs, from here CO2 is given out through the air we exhale and Hb ( haemoglobin) remains in the blood.

Oxygen rich blood is carried via arteries.

Carbon dioxide rich blood is carried via veins.
