i ) In the process of Oxidation, the Oxidation State (O.S) of an element in any compund increases. Whereas in the process of Reduction, the O.S of an element in any compund decreases.
ii) In a reaction , when there is lost of Hydrogen and addition of oxygen in an element, it means that the element is reduced, i.e. it undergoes the process of Oxidation. When there is lost of Oxygen and addition of Htdrogen atom in an element, it mean that it undergoes the process of Oxidation.
