Arteries - Arteries carry oxygenated blood which comes through the heart . Arteries are thick so due to high pressure they don't get damaged.

Veins - Contain de-oxygenated blood which comes from the body to the heart. This blood is transferred to lungs for oxygenation . Viens have valves which ensure that blood dosent flow back.
