Oxygen is absorbed by the blood capillaries from the lungs alveoli by diffusion while carbon-dioxide is absorbed by the lungs alveoli from blood capillaries by diffusion. Oxygen is transported from lungs to the body cells in the form of oxy-hemoglobin.
