The great Peninsular Plateau was formed as the result of breaking & drifting of the Gondwana land. As a result, it is a part of the oldest landmass of the Earth.

The 2 parts of Peninsular Plateau are the central highlands & the Deccan Plateau and it has been formed due to volcanic eruption of deccan traps.
