The sequence of photosynthesis changes.
Desert plants take up carbon dioxide at night and prepare intermediate on which the energy absorbed by chlorophyll acts.

Deserts plants take in Co2 at night as evaporation during day is more and so they can't open stomata at daytime... This absorbed co2 is converted into an intermediate product and stored.... When the plants get sunlight, the stored intermediate product is used for the process of photosynthesis....

Other plants take in co2 at daytime and they don't need to convert it to intermediate product

Hope it helps
