placenta is tube like which is connected from mother womb to fetus.it serves as the lifeline for the developing fetus.

Placenta is the intimate connection established between the foetal membranes and uterine wall permitting diffusion of nourishment from the mother's blood to that of the growing foetus and disposal of wastes from blood of the foetus to that of the mother.
