the chemical formula for plaster of Paris is CaSO4.1/2H2O....

it is prepared by heating gypsum at 373k. on heating gypsum at 373k ,it loses water molecules and becomes calcium sulphate hemihydrate. This is called the plaster of Paris.

when plaster of Paris is mixed with water gypsum is formed. chemically it is known as calcium sulphate dehydrate.

On heating gypsum (CaSO4 . 2 H2O) at 373 K , it loses water molecules and becomes *Plaster Of Paris* (POP).

CaSO4 .2 H2O ——∆ 373K——> CaSO4 .1/2 H2O + 1.5H20

**Its Chemical formula is CaSO4. 1/2H2O

**Its Chemical name is Calcium Sulphate Hemihydrate.
