"A material to be called sustainable should adhere to three features i.e. they should be economically, environmentally and socially sustainable.
Plastics being produced with least energy and being durable and lightweight are used in almost all industries.
On the other hand plastic is a pervasive pollutant. It releases toxic chemicals which may be hazardous to health.
Moreover synthetic plastic is not biodegradable which pollutes the environment and is becoming the biggest threat to humans at present.
