•It is determined in terms of consumption or spending per individual over a certain period for a basket of essential goods.

•In India, calories based norm is used to define poverty.

•The minimum average calorie requirement is determined by the planning commission at approximately 2500 calories.


•In INDIA, In 1999-2000 poverty line was fixed at Rs approx 325 per person per month.


•It is dermined for Urban and rural Household and Settlements.


•Poverty line in india by the amount of income,amount of nutrition and Special in Number of calories.
