Perspectives on Poverty
The overall mission – poverty reduction – is in the focus of this document that serves as a mind map for Sida‚s work. Poverty is understood to be a condition where people are deprived of the freedom to decide over their own lives and shape their future. Lack of power and choice and lack of material resources form the essence of poverty. Given that poverty is dynamic, multi- dimensional and context specific a holistic analytical approach is advocated.
Sida Looks Forward
The role of Sida as a development partner is described in this mission statement. The task of development co-operation is to help create conditions that are conducive to sustainable development, poverty reduction, democracy and gender equality. This requires genuine partnership as well as real local ownership.
Sida at Work
This document contains an overview of the principals and met- hods that are applied during the various stages of preparation, implementation and follow-up of Sida contributions. Information on where to find more detailed guidelines (e.g. with respect to poverty analyses, country strategy processes, contribution management processes and logical framework analysis) is provided in a set of links to other more detailed documents.
