How is pyruvic acid formed? Discuss the fate of pyruvic acid in the absence of oxygen ?

Answer:

Pyruvic acid is formed during respiration when glycolysis takes place. Glucose, which is a 6 - carbon molecule  is converted into pyruvic acid or pyruvate. In the absence of oxygen, it forms lactic acid or lactate in our muscles and in yeast it forms ethanol and CO2.
