The main difference between the two is that Fused Silica is composed of a non-crystalline silica glass, while Quartz is made from crystalline silica. This difference gives Fused Silica very high transmission in the UV spectrum compared to that of Quartz.

(1) Quartz is a crystallic solid , whereas glass is an amorphous solid.

(2) Quartz has a long range order , whereas glass has only short range order.

Thus, the 'arrangement of the constituent particles' makes quartz different from glass.
