In glass slab when ray of light incident on glass, it get refracted twice one from rarer to denser medium and other from denser to rarer and their refracted ray which is parallel to emergent ray.
in prism which is triangular shape ,when ray of light incident on the prism it refractef twice, one while entering and other while coming out of the prism. In this case refracted ray is not parallel to emergent ray and the emergent rays bent toward the base. the phenomenon arises due to rays is called dispersion.
