✯ Northern Ireland of the United Kingdom has been for many years the site of violent and bitter ethno- political conflict. it's population is divided into two major sects of Christianity- 53% ᴀʀᴇ ᴘʀᴏsᴛᴇɴᴛs while 44% ᴀʀᴇ ʀᴏᴍᴀɴ ᴄᴀᴛʜᴏʟɪᴄs.

➊. the catholics were represented by ɴᴀᴛɪᴏɴᴀʟɪsᴛ parties who demanded that Northern Ireland be unified with the Republic of Ireland, of predominantly Catholic country.

➋. the protestants were represented by ᴜɴɪᴏɴɪsᴛ who wanted to remain with the UK, which is prominently protestants.

Religious differences created social division in
Northern Ireland because here class and
religion overlap with each other. Here
Catholics are considered to be poor and are
regarded to have suffered a history of
discrimination. Such overlapping social
differences create deep social divisions and
conflicts.

Hope it helps
