4) Economical for transportation of smaller goods and fewer people

Roadways has always had an edge over the railways for many reasons :-
1) The cost of construction of roads is much less than that of laying rail tracks.
2) Roads can cover more dissected and undulating topography.
3) Also, roads can be constructed in areas of high gradient of slopes.
4) Now , the roads are more efficient and affordable in the transportation of less goods and people over short distances.
5) Roadways serves as a feeder transport to other means by connecting railways stations to other sea and air ports.
6) Roads provide door to door service which helps in the lowering of cost of loading and unloading.
