rust is formed when an iron or alloy that contains iron like steel, is exposed to oxygen and moisture for a long period of time. overtime the oxygen combines with metal and the rust forms

Here is ur ans....
WHAT IS RUST....
The gradual eaten up of metal by the action of heat, air, pressure,temp.,acid,etc.
For example..
Iron + Rust ---------Iron oxide
As iron get oxidized and a thick coating present on its surface...which corrode it gradually.
Iron + Water ( H2o ) --------- Iron hydroxide
This thick coating of hidroxide.....corrode the iron completely..
