both are simple permanent plant tissues but they have different functions and structure.

in sclerenchyma tissue, all cells are dead. they have very thick cell wall hence, there's no intercellular space between them. they are strong and provide support to the plant. the cell wall is made up of lignin. and basically sclerenchyma tissue is found in wooden parts of the plant.

whereas in parenchyma tissue, cells are loosely packed and hence, there's a lot of intercellular space between them. the cell wall of parenchyma is made up of cellulose. their main function is food storage and also in gaseous exchange. they're found in soft parts of leaves and stems of the plant.
