Sexual reproduction is biparental or uniparental (hermaphridites which have both the sex organs in the same individual) with the formation of gametes and their fusion whereas asexual reproduction is uniparental with no formation of gametes.

Asexual reproduction is mitotic, rapid and simple while Sexual reproduction is both mitotic and meiotic and it is slow, complex and elaborate.

The new individuals produced in asexual reproduction are clones of the parent that is they are exactly identical to the parent ( that is why asexual reproduction is also called cloning) whereas the offsprings produced by sexual reproduction show variations and difference in characters.

Asexually reproducing organisms e.g.: Lower organisms like bacteria, fungi, algae, etc.

Sexually reproducing organisms e.g.: Higher organisms like Plants, Animals, Angiosperms and Gymnosperms.
