Smog, is a type of air pollution. It is caused by burning large amount of coal. In present time’s smog are caused due to vehicular emission, industrial fumes which react in atmosphere along with sunlight to form photochemical smog.

 

This photochemical smog contains toxic mixture of air pollutants like sulphur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, ozone and other volatile organic compounds.

 

The air pollutants from smog cause serious problems to senior citizens, children and people with heart and lung problems leading to emphysema, bronchitis, asthma.

A thick fog like layer envelopes the atmosphere. This layer is made up of smoke and fog. Smoke contains oxides of nitrogen which combine with other air pollutants and fog to form smog.

It leads to diseases relating to lungs like asthama etc.
