Sodium is a metal that reacts explosively with water. Chlorine is a green coloured poisonous gas. Sodium chloride or common table salt has none of these properties and is a neutral substance.

SODIUM CHLORIDE NACL IS DIFFERENT FROM ITS ELEMENTS NA AND CL. SODIUM CHLORIDE IS A COMPOUND AND IT WILL HAVE TOTALLY NEW PROPERTIES. BUT IF WE JUST PUT NA AND CL TOGETHER IN  A PLATE, THEN IT WILL BE A MIXTURE. SODIUM IS A SOFT METAL.CHLORINE IS A GAS. IT IS A NON METAL.BUT NACL IS TOTALLY DIFFERENT
whatever i knew i have answered, this is not exact answer. this is just concept
