the extraction of metal from its molten salt is done by electrolysis from NaCL (Sodium Chloride) at cathode: NA+ +E+ Na
At Cathode: CL------Cl - +e –
Over All reaction: Nacl -----Na+ +Cl-

Though we cannot directly obtain Sodium from molten chloride. However, we can obtain it by the process of electrolysis of molten sodium chloride.
The reaction for obtaining sodium from molten NaCl is as follows:
NaCl ---------> Na⁺ + Cl⁻
Reaction
Na⁺ + 1e⁻ -------> Na (sodium) (in solid form).
