How is sodium obtained from molten sodium chloride give equation for the reaction?

Sodium is obtained from its molten chloride by ‘electrolytic reduction’.

Since it is a very reactive metal which is placed at top of the reactivity series and can be obtained from its ore by any other process like reduction, calcination etc we use electrolytic reduction.
