How is "soft" clustering different from traditional "hard" clustering?

The hard clustering allows a data point to belong to only one cluster and hence, it is called as hard boundary or crisp clustering. Whereas, the soft clustering includes a soft boundary where a data point may belong to more than one cluster depending on the distance criteria.
