Soil is formed because of mountains ,mainly formed by weathering of rocks.

Their are various kinds of soil like laterite soil, Black soil or regur soil, Alluvial soil, Marshy soil, Alkaline soil, Red soil etc.

Different types of soil are found in different regions like laterite soil are found in Kerala, jharkhand, west Bengal.

Desert soil are found in Rajasthan etc.

India covers 40% of its land with alluvial soil.
