Soil is formed by the various processes:
- Sun : In day, the rocks expand due to the uneven heating of the sun. At night, these rocks contract. They do not expand and contract at the same time and same rate, so these forms cracks in them. Ultimately, the rocks break down and converts into the soil.
- Water: Water helps in the formation of soil in two ways. One, water could get into the cracks in the rocks formed due to the uneven heating of the sun. If this water later freezes, it would cause the cracks to widen. Two, flowing water wears uneven hard rock over long periods of time. fast flowing rivers often carries big and small particles of rock downstream. These rocks rub against other rocks and the resultant abrasion causes the rocks to wear them down into smaller and smaller particles.
- Winds = In a process, similar to the way in which water rubs against rocks and wears them Down, strong winds also erode Rocks down. The winds also carries sand from one place to the other like water does.

Answer:
Soil is formed through the process of weathering. Weathering is a process of physical breakdown and chemical decomposition of rocks and minerals near or at the surface of the earth. This physical and chemical decomposition is primarily done by wind, water, and climate. As a result of these processes, large rock pieces are converted into smaller pieces and eventually to soil.
