Sound is produced by the voice box , also known as larynx. It is situated in our Thorat at the top of the wind pipe. The voice box contains two ligaments know as vocal cords with a narrow slit between them. When we speak ,the air passes between the two vocal cords. This air makes the vocal cords vibrate. And the vibrating vocal cords prduce sound .

Hope this helps!
