Bryophyte as we all know them are amphibious plnats having thalloid body. The exhibit heteromorphic alternation of generation i.e, both the generations (Sporophyte and Gametophyte) occur alternating each other with distinct morphological structures.

The dominant generation in Bryophytes is Gametophyte. Gametophyte later matures to form Sporophyte. This Sporophyte after undergoing Meiosis produces spores that are diploid in chromosomal number and germinate to form a Gametophyte repeating the life cycle.
