The tertiary sector is different from the other two sectors because the other sectors produce goods but this sector does not produce goods by itself. Instead, the tertiary sector activities help in the development of the primary and secondary sectors. For this reason this sector is also known as service sector. The activities under this sector help in the development of other two sectors. These activities are an aid or support for the production process. ex- transport, storage, communications , banking insurance and trade activities.

The goods that are produced in other sectors need to be transported by tractors trucks or train It is also necessary to store these products in cold storage.
