Airways can be helpful while an earthquake, a volcanic eruption or a flood as all these natural disasters impact on the ground which will be thousands of feet below the airplane but Airways are not much helpful during natural disasters like meteor showers.

When disaster strikes, air transport is normally the most feasible mode of transportation for the people in need and for supplying  urgently needed relief supplies. During Tsunami or earth quake air transport is the best method of transportation

Explanation:

  • During an earthquake, tsunami, hurricane or other natural disaster the roads and rail tracks and even ports cannot be used as they are blocked for days by debris.
  • Air transport is the only feasible mode of transportation at that point of time. For the air transport the runaways are on open space where debris of a disaster can be removed quickly and the airports usually become operational again.
  • Normally a runway usually suffers  little damage even by a strong earthquake and they are particularly important in situations where other means of access are obstructed by natural disasters.
