How is the climate of our country classified
Answers
INDIA experiences almost all types of climatic conditions
Geography It extends from 8degree North latitude to 37degree N latitude. Hence it has both Tropical and Temperate Climate. Few places like J&K are at high altitude, hence experience extreme cold climate like sub polar climate.
The South India is a Peninsula which experiences maritime climate where as the North India which is land locked has continental type of climate.
Because of the Coriolis effect and being closer to Equator Kerala and the western coast gets heavy rainfall, as the Monsoons get deflected towards the right side in the northern hemisphere after crossing equator.
Gujrat does not get monsoon rains as it does not have any natural barriers like Western Ghats near the coastal areas. On the other hand Rajastan does not get rains as the winds blow parallel to the Aravalli Mountains, hence the Thar region is a Desert.
Assam region receives heavy rainfall as the winds are blocked by different mounts like the Naga Hills, Garo, Kasi hills etc.
Punjab receives rainfall during winters. Reason: As the earth is tilted the pressure belts on the earth shift. during winters India falls under the influence of Westerlies (western disturbances caused in Mediterranean Sea) This also cause Snowfall in J&K as the rain turns into snow at higher altitude.
El-Nino which is a warm current which sometimex appear Peru in South America causes weak drought like situation in India.
