Answer:

When excess of base is dissolved in a solution of sodium hydroxide, OH⁻ concentration increases then reach a saturation after which concentraion remains unaffected.

Explanation:

A base dissolves in water and releases OH⁻ ions in the solution. The strength of base depend upon the concentration of hydroxyl ions present. On adding excess base to the solution of sodium hydroxide OH⁻ ions increases at first. Then it eventually reaches a saturation . On adding more base after attaining saturation does not increase the concentration of hydroxyl ions . Hence after the saturation concentration remains unaffected.

Answer:

Hydroxide ions (OH – ) are formed by dissociation of the base. ... Hence, the concentration of hydroxide ions (OH – ) increases and the basicity of a solution increases as well.
