The poet presents the picture of a soldier in his poem 'Asleep In The Valley'. The soldier is very young. He lies asleep, open-mouthed. He lies full length in the heavy undergrowth. The bed he lies on is the green, warm, sun-soaked ground. He had his head on a ferny pillow. His feet touch the flowers. He wears an innocent smile. He sleeps peacefully with one hand on his breast. And there are two bullet wounds in his side. It tells that the soldier is no longer on the land of life. Cruel war puts him to eternal peace and rest.
