How is the difference between 'Filter' and 'Quary' in MS-Access ?

Queries and filters both refine a group of messages into a subset, but queries yield a subset of all the messages in the Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2007 site database, while filtering yields a subset of the messages currently displayed in ConfigMgr Status Message Viewer. For example, if there are 1,000 messages in the Configuration Manager 2007 site database, you could define a query that returns 541 of those messages to ConfigMgr Status Message Viewer. You could then filter these messages so that only 17 are displayed.
