I'll try to explain it in the most subtle manner i know of so pay attention.
- Digestive system is also known as the "gut" of the body. Digestion starts as soon as you put a food material in your mouth.
- In the mouth, the saliva also known as salivary amylase is used for breaking down of carbohydrates.
- The food goes down through the oesophagus down to our stomach where Pepsin is a secretion which digests proteins, the HCL in our stomach creates an acidic medium for pepsin to work.
- Then the food goes into the small intestine where bile juice, which comes from liver creates an alkaline medium so that the pancreas's secretions can work on it which contain all amylase, lipase and trypsin enzymes.
- the food then fully gets digested in the small intestine the water which remains gets absorbed in the large intestine.
