Astronomers use parallax method to determine the distance between a star and earth. When we close one eye and look at an object we see it to moved compared to when we look at it with both eyes open. Scientists use similar method , they measure the angle from 2 different positions and find the parallax angle. The distance of the star from earth = 1/parallax angle.
