Human possesses 23 pair of chromosome, of which 22 pair are autosomes and 1 pair is the sex chromosome. The two sex chromosome in human are x and y. Female have 2x chromosome and males have x and y chromosome. During the process of fertilisation a haploid sperm fuses with a heploid ovum to produce a diploid zygote . Zygote receives equal amount of genetic material from each parent and thus, retains the diploid nature of fertilization
