Light rays enter the eye through the cornea, the clear front “window” of the eye. The cornea's refractive power bends the light rays in such a way that they pass freely through the pupil the opening in the center of the iris through which light enters the eye.Light enters our eyes How our pupils react to light ... light, travels in a straight line, bounces off objects and into our eyes through the pupil. The amount of light that enters the eye is controlled by the circular ... the optic nerve, which relays the information into the brain.

The iris opens and closes to control the amount of light entering the eye through the pupil. The pupil is the opening in the center of the iris where light enters the eye. When looking at the eye, the pupil appears black.
